How to Use an All About Me Activity in Preschool

An introduction activity works best as a conversation starter, with room for drawing, pointing and help from an adult.

Start with a short conversation

Ask children to share one favorite thing before handing out the page. Model a simple answer of your own. Let children pass if they are not ready to speak.

Make room for different ways to participate

Read prompts aloud, invite drawings and write down a child's own words when needed. Independent writing should not be a requirement for joining an introduction activity.

Use it beyond the first day

Try the activity when a new student joins, at a family welcome event or as a portfolio entry. Revisit later to talk about what has changed.

Choose what to share

Ask permission before displaying children's work. Keep family contact information separate from public displays and follow your school's privacy practices.

Print a ready-made activity

My Amazing All About Me is a one-page, US Letter activity with favorites, a self-portrait and a grown-up note. It is also included in the First Week Ready pack.
